This is it...

Here comes the big sail. It's been a long week of lectures giving them and receiving them.

Come 0645 Sunday morning I will be sailing for 6 weeks for readiness drills on the ships. 4 weeks of that then 2 weeks of a missile exercise.

With all this stuff comes 2 ports visits to Ireland. One to Belfast for 3 to 4 days, all of which are a working port and then a 5 day stint to Dublin for some what will be much deserved and needed rest.

All in all it should be eventful to say the least, although a lot less sleep than I am used to.

Should I actually be able to connect to the net with a connection decent enough I will upload some pictures throughout the sail.

Until then.

Updates

Well the anchor has definitely been weighed sometimes roundly(quickly in Navy speak) or Handsomely(slowly in navy speak).

The sailing schedule for the next while isn't going to avast(stop in navy speak). I know most retarded terms ever you think? I agree. I am still confused.

So far its been an eventful year, Brayden started pre-school and Shaun is growing like crazy, he is gonna be a football player for sure. Then Brayden starts school this fall which I will unfortunately miss his first day.

The sailing side of things should prove to be an eventful year. We will be sailing across the Atlantic in the next bit to do some training, all the while stopping in Dublin, Ireland and Glasgow, Scotland and maybe even Norway.

Hopefully I can make it down to Kilkenny to see some Hurling and a few other sites. Hurling is a sport I was told to see by an Irishman if I ever go there. Hurling combines the skills of baseball, hockey, and lacrosse in one high paced war like game so I have read! Should prove to be interesting!

Then we get a break for the summer and from about mid August to Mid December we get to sail to the arctic and then down towards the equator.

The navy has it's pluses but it is definitely not the Firehall, how I miss shift work!

So for anyone that keeps looking at this page, these are the update so far.

Tomorrow's the day...

It's been about 2 months since I got home from the sandbox, and I have packed and loaded up my house to move to Halifax.

Now I will get to experience the Navy in all it's glory. I start my first day on the HMCS St. John's.

I already went and checked out my "new home away from home". The bunk space is quite limited, a little more room than a coffin.

Once I am a little more settled I will post some new pictures.

Pack day

Today is pack day, tomorrow is load day and the next day is close day. Then we start the 4 day trip down east.

Meanwhile we will stop at the Hartland covered bridge and then Magnet Hill along the way.

Hopefully it will be an easy trip for the kids. Then again we are driving no longer than 5 hours each day, so that should make things smooth.

Anyways, just a quick update until we are settled.

Only a few more weeks.

It's getting down to crunch time. I will be driving out of Ontario in a little under 3 weeks now.

Work one more night, then take some leave for 2 weeks, work 2 more days and then we start packing loading and travelling.

We are doing the trip in 4 legs. We are going to stop in Drummondville the first day, Edmunston the 2nd day, Moncton the 3rd day and then get to Halifax the 4th day. We are going to be doing about 440-477km each day for the first 3 days and about 290 4th day.

We don't want to overdo it especially because of the kids. Plus we are driving down both vehicles, so we'll see how that goes.

Anyways, just a little update until we start travelling.

House Hunting Trip is over.

After a long 7 days seatching for a house we have found one. Our first house inspection failed because of some major electrical issues, the possibility of replacing the furnace and well alot of other minor issues. However when it could add up to possibly 30K in repairs and the price was far 2 high, we opted for house # 2.

The house is a 4 year old house as shown here:

Overall we are happy. I may eventually add a 2 car garage.

So back to Trenton it is. I get to work maybe one for shift at the hall. Pack up the house and travel back down here by car and van.

So that is that. My next post may be of a fully setup new house.

Till then.

House Hunting Trip

Hello all,

Well Trish and I will be going on our house hunting trip to Halifax this end of this week to find our new home.

We will probably take a trip down to see my new home for the seas and meet my new boss.

This is going to be a big change, the first time for me leaving Ontario permenantly and living in another province. Easier for Trish since she has lived this way half of her life.

One saving grace is that since Brayden will start school when he is 5 our there, we don't have to pull him out of school so early which we would have done if I had been posted next year.

That it for now. Pics posted of the trip later on.
