Back to the Sandbox!

Well it's time to head back over to Afghanistan till sometime in May.

I had some pretty decent holidays. My dad, brother, sister inlaw and niece came down for christmas. I tried my hand at doing BBQ rotisserie turkey this year. It turned out pretty good, all things considered.

Let me tell you that it is harder in the winter I am sure. Fighting the cold and keeping the BBQ at just the right temperature is a chore. Also having to keep an eye on it constantly because, yes as a responsible firefighter I was doing IN THE GARAGE!

One thing I found out is that flare ups can cause the meperature to spike form a nice 300 degrees to about 700 degrees in a VERY short time. So as a result the trurkey was a little charbroiled on one side. Thank God it has a protective layer called skin. Let me tell you it was almost the juiciest turkey I have ever had! I thought deep fried turkey was good, this was way better!

Bryaden really loved all his toys and in typical kid fashion tossed all clothes to the wayside!

Great Christmas overall! Now I have to head back over for about 5 months.
