The first picture is my last flight in the Chinook I took over the desert to the location I am in. I am right beside the door gunner. The following picture is the same Chinook being hot fueled. Hot fueling is when the bird is still running and they fuel it up. Everyone must get off the helicopter except the flight crew.
The next 2 pictures with the helicopters are Blackhawks and Kiawas on the HLS in the FOB I am in now. The Kiawa kicks some serious insurgent butt. They have rocket tripods on each side of it which lights up the insurgents, which makes for a very bad day those on the receiving end.
Next is some random armoured US vehicle. It is the replacement for the Hummer.
I could not help adding this next photo because these guys are private security and they are driving on Hwy 1 on a gator. Surprising they don't get attacked more often.
This mountain you see here is the first place I lived on the other side of the Arhgandab River. If you zoom in you can see the switchbacks on it.
The picture with a dog has the backdrop of a memorial of fallen US soldiers.
The first 2 pictures of the mountains I particularly like because since it was a clear day, you can see the mountain ranges in the distance. Usually you can only see the first set of mountain ranges. Thats what 3 days of rain does I guess.
The last couple of pictures are that I couldn't resist putting up for obvious reasons.
